2023The Market District infrastructure construction project was a crucial step in transforming a historically industrial area near the Des Moines River and Des Moines’ East Village into a vibrant hub for future businesses, including restaurants, entertainment venues, and offices.
The development includes street trees and a diverse array of native shrubs, perennials, and grasses. It also features modern street lighting, numerous limestone benches, and artistic steel elements throughout the site. With a focus on stormwater management and water conservation, several bio-retention areas have been incorporated to collect runoff from the lots and roadways.
